Expressions of interest for submissions
RMIT's internationally recognised Landscape Architecture Journal have recently opened expressions of interest for submissions to the 30th Issue of Kerb.
The full thematic for this year is detailed below.
POWER:
Resistance, Surrender and Agency in a Landscape of Uncertainty.
We are immersed in power, seen and unseen, intuitively and forcibly, felt and heard. It is tightly held, seldom deserved, and often misplaced. As agents of facilitation - negotiating environmental and temporal flux - landscape architects play a vital role in articulating the narratives of human and non-human culture over time. We also address, navigate, and ultimately influence existing power structures intrinsic to the living world - for better or worse.
Kerb 30: POWER will cast a floodlight into the interdisciplinary bullpen to reveal and examine the proverbial powers that make and unmake us.
- How does power manifest?
- How do we address existing ecologies of power?
- Where are the opportunities to shift the power inherent in our landscapes?
Kerb are asking for expressions of interest and abstracts (max 300 words) that speak to POWER within the context of landscape architecture and its constituents. Abstracts exploring expressions of POWER in the form of essays, interviews, drawings and illustrations, photo-essays, and projects are welcomed.
Submissions from students, researchers, practitioners, thinkers, non-architects, non-humans, and all disciplines will be warmly received until EOD 22nd April 2022.
For further information on the journal, this year's theme, and any upcoming events can be found on the Kerb website.
