Members from the Tāmaki Makaurau and Central North Island branches came together for a field trip to Rangiriri Pā in September, sharing knowledge, kōrero and connections across the two branches
Held on Friday 25 September, the joint field trip brought members together at one of Aotearoa's most significant historic and cultural landscapes.
Rangiriri Pā holds an important place in the history of Aotearoa, particularly through its role in the invasion of Waikato and the New Zealand Wars. Recognised as a wāhi tūpuna (ancestral site), it provided a meaningful setting for members to come together and connect with the landscape.
The field trip was also an opportunity to strengthen relationships between members from different regions, with plenty of kōrero, knowledge sharing and a shared lunch along the way.
As the organisers summed it up, the day brought the two branches together for "incredible kōrero" and "spectacular sandwiches!"
A big thank you to the branch volunteers who helped bring the day together, and to everyone who joined in.
