Launching Nature Credits in Aotearo

Boffa Miskell is working with international nature fintech leaders, CreditNature, the New Zealand Government, and New Zealand-based co-governed conservation non-profits to lead the adaptation and delivery of an internationally accredited Nature Credit Framework for use in Aotearoa New Zealand ecosystems.
From 2026, 80% of Aotearoa New Zealand’s exports will go to countries requiring ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) reporting, including four of our five largest trading partners. This raises the bar for accountability for businesses to align environmental stewardship with commercial strategy.
In response, New Zealand environmental consultancy Boffa Miskell, leading international Nature Credits provider CreditNature, and Bay of Plenty-based conservation non-profit Manaaki Kaimai Mamaku Trust have launched an international nature credit pilot programme, enabling businesses to make verified nature-positive claims while directly supporting ecosystem restoration across Aotearoa.
