NZILA and AILA Webinar April 23rd
We are delighted to introduce Bela Hinemoa Grimsdale as one of our panel members for the International Women’s Day webinar NZILA is co-hosting with AILA on 23 April from 3-4pm.
Bela (Te Ātiawa, Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Toa Rangatira) holds a BA from the University of Auckland in Art History and Cultural Heritage and Museums. She graduated from UNITEC Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (Hons) in 2018.
She views landscape architecture as a creative way to combine her passion of design in natural and build environments with her deep interest and connection with her deep interest and connection to Te Ao Māori.
With her bicultural background, with Māori and Pākehā whakapapa, Bela is strongly grounded in the culture of Aotearoa. Her previous studies at the University of Auckland led her to develop understanding and practice in traditional Māori techniques of weaving, carving and the uses of native plants.
Bela joined LandLAB in 2019. She adds a strong cultural dimension to the team and is actively engaged in uniquely indigenous aspects of landscape architecture. Her strengths are concept design work and testing of ideas, production of design material, graphic outputs, research, and documentation.
