NZILA Call for Judges

NZILA is seeking judges for the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architecture Awards 2024.
To be considered as a judge you must:
- be a Registered, Fellow or Life member of NZILA.
- have a minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in one or more of the following areas; design, planning, research
- be available to attend meetings with the judges panel (two full day ratification meetings which will take place pre and post site visits, exact dates and times to be agreed)
- be available to participate in site visits late Feb/early March (likely 4-6 days)- exact dates to be agreed dependent on availability and shortlist locations.
- be available to attend the Awards function on Friday 17 May 2024 in Wellington.
The panel will be selected as a collective to ensure representation of the breadth and depth of the profession with a view to alleviating potential conflicts of interest.
If you meet the criteria and are interested in being on the Jury, please complete the EOI form by Monday 9 October 2023.
Please note:
- This is a voluntary role with expenses covered by the Institute.
- Experience, capacity, and skills in the areas of expertise will be key criteria. Judges will be selected for their strengths in key areas and may therefore be restricted to judging limited categories. For example, landscape planning areas will be judged by suitably qualified professionals.
- The Jury composition will aim to demonstrate diversity in age, gender, location and professional experiences.
- Conflicts of interest will need to be declared for any decision made by members of the Jury.
- Judge’s names will be published once selected by the Institute to sit on the jury.
- As respected experts in their fields, Judges will be celebrated through media and profiled by the NZILA.
- Successful candidates will be selected by a selection panel including previous judges, board members and NZILA team and advised in writing.
