Zach Barker
Zach recently relocated from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to join the Isthmus Auckland office as an intermediate landscape architect. As a dual citizen of New Zealand and the United States, Zach aspires to create innovative and sustainable landscapes in both countries.
During his time working in America, Zach played a significant role in the design and delivery of a variety of award-winning public realm projects. His work enabled him to gain extensive experience collaborating with architects, engineers, contractors, and medical professionals on the delivery of a world class hospital complex.
Zach earned a Bachelors of Landscape Architecture (with Honors) from the State University of New York and completed his independent thesis abroad, analyzing landscape infrastructure in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. During his graduating year he was designated a National Olmsted Scholar Finalist, nominating him as one of the top landscape architecture students in North America.
Zach has a passionate curiosity about the social dynamics of urban spaces, material systems, and landscape infrastructure. Zach is enjoying being a member of the Isthmus studio and is excited to experience all Tāmaki Makaurau has to offer.
