Kia ora everyone
Welcome to the New Year! I trust that 2017 will be prosperous for us all. I am excited about the initiatives that will come to fruition this year as we begin to set the landscape architecture profession on a new level.
Of the many projects we have on the agenda to deliver this year, it is with huge delight that I now introduce you to the new NZILA website. A triumph of a project with a focus on powerful imagery, intuitive navigation, and significant opportunities for you to contribute your own work. Over 12 months in the making by a team of dedicated professionals and volunteers, the website is a new representation of how we see ourselves, and how we want to be seen. Please check it out, I trust you’ll be more than wowed.
Ultimately the website is just a platform, and it’s now over to you to deliver it to its fullest potential. We’ve created it to allow – to encourage - you to upload your own imagery and projects. To showcase the work you are proud of. We want the website to be our collective showcase to the world of the power of landscape architecture. Throughout the site you’ll see that we’ve space for hundreds of images – each one with the link back to the project, and to the member who created it. You’ll also find that you’ve got your own page – space for you to showcase yourself and your work. It can be as big as you want it to be. Over the coming months we’ll send out some directions on how you can add your stuff to make the site even better.
As you can imagine for a project of this size, there’s going to be some wobbly wheels in places. We know there’s some gaps in the text, and some click-throughs that don’t quite connect. Bear with us as we work through these issues, or help us by pointing them out and offering help to rectify them. Remember, the website is about us, collectively showcasing our talent to the world.
So, thank you to Brooke, Vicki, Richard, Matt and the whole team for the massive effort you’ve put in to make this project live. Well done, it’s something for us all to be proud of.
Enjoy the summer.
