Graduate Landscape Architect

At Boffa Miskell, landscape architecture is about creating meaningful design outcomes while also shaping places that strengthen connections between people and environment, and we are currently looking for a Graduate Landscape Architect to join our Auckland team.
This is an exciting opportunity to begin or further your career in a practice working across a diverse range of projects throughout Aotearoa. You’ll be part of a talented team of landscape architects and wider multi-disciplinary project teams, contributing to projects that are creative, purposeful and grounded in the realities of delivery.
About the role
In a graduate role, your focus will be on high-quality graphic and design support, helping to bring ideas to life through compelling visuals, clear documentation and well-resolved design thinking. The successful candidate will be primarily focused on a major infrastructure project, while also having opportunities to contribute to a diverse range of landscape architecture projects across the Auckland region - from early concept development through to detailed design and construction documentation. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals who are committed to sharing their knowledge, mentoring emerging designers and helping you develop your career, grow your design capability, technical skills and confidence as a consultant.
About You
You may be a recent graduate or have up to two years’ experience in a relevant design role. Most importantly, you bring a strong design foundation, a willingness to learn, and enthusiasm for creating thoughtful, high-quality design outcomes.
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
- A bachelor’s degree (Hons) or master’s degree in landscape architecture
- Strong graphic skills and experience using a range of digital tools and techniques, including Adobe Creative Cloud, AutoCAD, GIS, as well as hand drawing. REVIT or experience in other 3D software skills would be particularly advantageous.
- An understanding of the design process, and how ideas are developed to take a design from concept through to construction documentation.
- A strong eye for detail, composition and visual communication
- The ability to communicate your ideas and design thinking in a clear, thoughtful and engaging way.
- A proactive approach to managing your work and meeting deadlines.
- A willingness to take initiative, contribute ideas, ask questions, and seek guidance when needed.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Membership of the NZ Institute of Landscape Architects and an interest in ultimately achieving NZILA registration.
- A current full driver’s license.
