Landscape Architect
Tahuna | Queenstown / Arrowtown
Join us in one of New Zealand's most remarkable landscapes.
SITE Landscape Architects is a design-focused studio based in Arrowtown. Our purpose is simple: to enrich the environment and people's lives through thoughtful, contextually responsive landscape architecture.
Our work spans masterplanning, high-end residential design, streetscapes, reserves, tourism projects, school redevelopments, landscape assessments and resource consent packages. We work across a wide range of scales, but the common thread is a commitment to strong design, creative thinking, and creating places that belong.
We're looking for a Landscape Architect with around 3–7 years' experience, although we're open to hearing from candidates at different stages of their career.
More than anything, we're looking for someone who loves design. Someone who is curious, thoughtful, and enjoys wrestling with ideas. Someone who takes pride in producing great work, works hard when required, and is happy rolling up their sleeves to help the team deliver.
You'll be confident contributing to design discussions, communicating ideas through sketches and visualisations, and developing projects from concept through to implementation. You should have solid skills in CAD, Photoshop and SketchUp, along with a practical understanding of construction and detailing.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be a strong designer with initiative and critical thinking skills;
- Have experience working across a range of project scales;
- Be comfortable working independently and collaboratively;
- Possess sound technical and graphic communication skills;
- Have good plant knowledge and an interest in landscape construction;
- Enjoy both detailed residential design and larger-scale masterplanning projects.
As a small practice, we offer the opportunity to be involved in every stage of a project and to develop a broad range of professional skills. You'll work closely with experienced landscape architects, contribute meaningfully to projects, and have genuine influence over the practise as a whole.
We offer:
- Support towards NZILA Registration and ongoing professional development;
- Direct mentoring from experienced landscape architects;
- Regular remuneration reviews;
- Flexibility to enjoy the unique lifestyle and environment that Central Otago offers;
- A relaxed, supportive studio culture where good ideas matter more than egos.
If you're passionate about landscape architecture, care deeply about design, and want to help create meaningful places while enjoying life in the mountains, we'd love to hear from you. Please email your CV and portfolio to rt@sitela.co.nz by 1 July 2026.
