Guiding Healthcare Professionals to create Therapeutic Hospital Gardens in every hospital

I investigate how hospital gardens need to be designed so they are therapeutic, striving to make hospitals healthier. Having to argue for quality green in every new project during my professional design practice led to my research and development of the Therapeutic Hospital Garden Guidelines. Designed for each of the three groups instrumental in making therapeutic hospital gardens (THG) a reality: healthcare designers, healthcare decision-makers, and clinical practitioners. The guidelines guide the three groups on how THG could be designed consistently.

I established, for the first time, the term therapeutic hospital gardens (THG).

My vision is to have THG in every hospital to support patient recovery and visitor and staff wellbeing.

I strive to make a positive contribution to society and human and planetary health.
