About

Webinar presented by Fulbright alumna Megan Couture, Board Member at the New Zealand Planning Institute and Technical Director – Planning, MNZPI at Beca

In this webinar, Megan will look at how planning has evolved over time, the values that have shaped it, and what the future may hold for the profession.

Housing affordability, environmental change, infrastructure investment, rapid technological change and declining trust in institutions are reshaping the context in which planners operate. Megan will explore what these forces mean for the future of urban planning and how planners can help navigate difficult decisions and competing values – bringing economic opportunity, environmental stewardship, community wellbeing and the interests of future generations into the same conversation.

The tools will change. The legislation will change. What society values will change. But the need for people who can connect ideas, disciplines, communities and futures will remain.
