intangible aspects of the Christchurch landscape present the key to maintaining
identity and rebuilding the city post earthquake? Landscape theory supports this
contention. How can Christchurch retain community identity and sense of place?

Standards
New Zealand - assistance for Cantabrians Standards
New Zealand (SNZ) wants to do what they can to help Cantabrian NZILA and/or SNZ
members, Standards development committee members, nominating organisations, Online
Library subscribers, and customers purchasing Standards whose businesses have
been affected by the recent earthquakes. Here
are the ways SNZ can assist: | A
special 'Canterbury Room' has been set up at SNZ's offices at 155 The
Terrace, Wellington, for Canterbury-based members, development committee members,
nominating organisations, subscribers, and customers to use when you visit Wellington.
The 'Canterbury Room' is equipped with desks, a telephone, and internet-enabled
PCs (or you are welcome to use your own laptop and access our Wi-Fi connection).
You are also welcome to use SNZ's kitchen facilities.
- You won't need
to book - simply come to the SNZ counter on Level 10 at 155 The Terrace and sign
in, then ring the bell and let the Customer Services staff know you'd like to
use the Canterbury Room. | | | | | SNZ
has set up a special travel fund to provide financial support to Canterbury-based
committee members affected by the earthquake who need financial assistance to
enable them to attend development meetings in New Zealand. If you haven't received
information from SNZ on this yet and feel you are eligible for this assistance,
please email michelle.wessing@standards.co.nz
, General Manager Solutions. | | | | | SNZ
is offering a special, 6 months free Online Library subscription to any Canterbury-based
committee members, subscribers, Standards New Zealand members, or customers who
have been affected by the Canterbury earthquake and have lost their hard copy
Standards collections, their PCs/servers, and/or PDF collections of Standards.
This offer will enable access to your chosen Standards through the Standards New
Zealand website. An information sheet explaining this offer and an application
form are attached - please send your completed application form to SNZ (see form
for details). Special

Branch 2x2 held
Beca Offices hosted by Mike Moore on 8 November 2011 Five
landscape architects held an project evening in Dunedin at Beca offices Tuesday
8th November 2011 and hospitality of Mike Moore. The
evening was based on the 2x2 format but rapidly developed into lively discussion
and review of 12 -14 projects presented and over an extended time. Projects
included: - a 're-visioning' master plan for a medium/large boutique vineyard
in Central Otago, - a wetlands waste treatment project, - industrial mitigation
planting, - senior hospital redevelopment, - sustainable living and auditing
programmes for waste management and landscape materials in Thailand and in Dunedin.
and - ingenious efforts of Council LA's to continue to provide imaginative
public open space on reducing finance. The
group aims to meet again shortly, share news on products and relevant professional
courses that may be held in Dunedin, and to aim to hold a wider professional development
event with potential interest to the wider rural community.
